How big is the Sun compared with Earth?
The Sun is about 1,392,000 km in diameter, which makes it about 109 times wider than Earth. NASA also uses a child-to-fingernail style comparison in educational materials: if the Sun were the height of a child, Earth would be only about as wide as a fingernail.
That is why solar-system scales are so hard to imagine. Earth feels huge to us, but beside the Sun it becomes a tiny marker, not the main event.
Sun diameter
About 1,392,000 km across.
Earth diameter
Roughly 12,742 km across, making the Sun about 109 Earths wide.

More than one million Earths could fit inside the Sun by volume.
